Indian law firm Khaitan & Co has promoted 49 lawyers to its leadership ranks, including 17 partners and 32 counsels, underscoring its push to deepen internal talent as corporate India navigates a more complex regulatory and deal environment.
Following the move, the firm’s total leadership strength has risen to 349.
Senior Partner Haigreve Khaitan said the new cohort reflects the firm’s focus on professional excellence and client commitment. He added that the promotions position the lawyers to take on larger roles in mentoring teams and deepening client relationships.
Amar Sinhji, Executive Director – Human Resources, said the move highlights the firm’s emphasis on merit-based progression and structured career pathways aligned with long-term strategy.
Founded in 1911, Khaitan & Co is among India’s oldest full-service law firms. It advises domestic and global clients across mergers and acquisitions, private equity, banking and finance, capital markets, disputes, infrastructure, energy and technology.
The firm has a presence across Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Singapore, and is known for handling high-value cross-border transactions and complex regulatory matters.
The promotions come amid intensifying competition in India’s legal market, with firms investing in leadership pipelines to meet rising demand from private equity, infrastructure, technology and dispute resolution.
Khaitan & Co said the expanded leadership team will strengthen its ability to deliver “agile, deep-sector expertise” as it scales sectoral specialisation and technology-led legal solutions.
