In the rich Bollowood traditions of getting ‘inspired’ by Hollywood films and making one of our own, the latest addition is Karan Malhotra’s Brothers.
Starring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jackie Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez, the movie follows “two brothers, two fighters and one ultimate fight”.
The trailer description on YouTube describes the movie as ’emotional journey of David (Akshay Kumar) and Monty (Sidharth Malhotra) as they come face to face in their fight for love, hatred and family.’
It this reads familiar, wait till you watch the trailer.
An almost frame-to-frame “remake” of Gavin O’Connor’s 2011 Warrior (plus the colours and songs), Akshay Kumar stars as Joel Edgerton, Sidharth Malhotra as Tom Hardy, Jackie Shroff as Nick Nolte and Jacqueline Fernandez as Jennifer Morrison.
We just can’t wait to see who they got in for the former WWE star Kurt Angle.
Here is the trailer for Warrior for reference and comparisons.
We are not sure if Malhotra got the rights for remaking the Warrior, but perhaps a much easier and economic way of getting the story out would have been dubbing the original movie itself.
Malhotra’s last directing endeavour was “Agneepath” starring Hrithik Roshan.
