The annual North American International Auto Show also known as the Detroit Auto Show, has lost a bit of its charm but is still alive. Organised at the Cobo Center in Detroit, major automobile makers are a part of the show and this year saw some interesting, if not crazy announcements.

The Korean automaker surprised us this year when it finally announced the production version of the Stinger GT. The four door Grand Tourer will be arriving in two variants, a turbocharged 2.0-litre base model and a 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 in rear wheel as well as an all-wheel-drive options. The twin-turbo V6 variant offers 365 bhp and 376 lb ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 100kmph in 5.1 seconds with a top speed of 268 kmph. The nostalgic Volkswagen mini bus has been resurrected, well, sort of. The new I.D. Buzz showcased by VW is an all electric concept which looks very ambitious. It comes with swivel seats, a movable touch console, retractable steering, full autonomous features and Volkswagen’s I.D. profile feature which offers a cloud profile with custom settings.

Audi Q8 Concept

Audi-Q8-Hybrid-3

German automaker Audi showcased a beast in the form of the all new Q8. While it is still a concept, it seems to be very close to the production model. It offers aggressive lines, a large front grille and the way the C-pillar drops is quite interesting. On the inside there are touchscreens and Audi’s virtual cockpit with MMI.

Lexus LS 500 (2018)

Toyota’s luxury car brand Lexus showcased the 2018 LS 500. The lights are very similar to the new Camry, but just look at that massive grille. It uses Toyota’s new GA-L global luxury architecture which is the stiffest in Lexus’s history. There is a 123-inch wheelbase, a 415bhp 3.5L twin-turbo V6 engine and a 10-speed transmission allows the car to reach 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds.

Ford GT ford-gt

Probably the best GT cars of all time, the all new Ford GT was also showcased at the show. The racing inspired super car looks superb and offers a 3.5-litre V6 EcoBoost mid-mounted engine that produces 600bhp with rear wheel-drive via a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle. Oh and it would be offered at $4,00,000 (Rs 2.7 crores).
