US President Donald Trump is set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday at Mar-a-Lago, Axios reported, citing a Ukrainian official, signalling fresh momentum in efforts to end the nearly four-year war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Axios, the meeting follows Zelensky’s statement on X that a “meeting at the highest level” would take place “in the near future.”
“A lot can be decided before the New Year,” the Ukrainian president added, hinting at the timing of the talks.

The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment or confirmation of the meeting.

Earlier, Zelensky reiterated that talks with Trump were imminent, underlining progress in diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
“We are not losing a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump in the near future,” he wrote on X.
“A lot can be decided before the New Year,” he added.

Zelensky has also said Ukraine would be willing to withdraw troops from its eastern industrial regions if Russia agreed to pull back as well, with the area becoming a demilitarised zone monitored by international forces.

Moscow, however, has shown no clear willingness to withdraw. While Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that there had been “slow but steady progress” in peace talks, the Kremlin continues to insist that Ukraine surrender all remaining territory it controls in the Donbas — a demand Kyiv has firmly rejected.

The announcement comes amid intensified engagement between Kyiv and Washington, including recent discussions that led to a draft 20-point peace proposal, which has reportedly been shared with Moscow for its response.

Zelensky said recent talks with US envoys had been constructive and that several documents linked to the proposal were close to completion, though he acknowledged that sensitive issues remain unresolved.

Despite the renewed diplomatic push, Russia has maintained a hard line. President Vladimir Putin has reiterated demands that Ukraine withdraw from Donetsk and Luhansk and abandon its NATO ambitions, underscoring the challenges that lie ahead in negotiations.

India condemned the lynching of two Hindu men in Bangladesh, expressing deep concern over ongoing violence against minorities and urging justice for the victims. The Ministry of External Affairs rejected Bangladesh's "false narrative" on minority attacks, citing around 2,900 incidents during the interim government's tenure. The lynchings in Rajbari and Mymensingh districts occurred amid wider political unrest in Bangladesh, with authorities and locals offering differing accounts of the incidents.
