“The ground is shaking,” Jost Kobusch, a German climber, can be heard saying as he laughs nervously, standing at the base camp of Mount Everest. Amidst poor visibility, activity can be traced around the camp.
Seconds later, people are seen running for cover and warning others of an approaching avalanche.
The advancing avalanche is triggered by the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on Saturday.
Kobusch scrambles for cover but manages to record a few seconds of terrifying footage of the imminent avalanche.
Soon, along with two other climbers, Kobusch is buried under a sea of snow struggling to breathe.
He asks the other climber if he is alright, all the while fighting for air.
The three climbers managed to survive, but at least 18 others lost their lives and dozens were injured at the camp, reports RT .
“The ground was shaking from the earthquake and as soon as we saw people running we were running ourselves to save our lives,” Kobusch wrote in the video description.
3,700 people have been reported dead in Nepal so far, with more than 6000 injured as rescue operations continue in the region.
