At least eighty innocent children were killed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan operatives, the same terror group that attacked Pakistani student and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai.
According to Pakistani daily Dawn , the militants entered the Army school through an unmanned graveyard situated right behind the school campus.
Eyewitnesses, including students, told reporters how the attack had unfolded in the school.
“We were studying and the fourth period was on when the firing began,” said a student who had managed to escape from the school.
“When the firing began, our teachers initially told us it was a drill. But then we heard heavy firing and we realised that seven to eight people had launched an attack on the school. The principal then told the teachers to escort the children out of the back gate. There are around a thousand students still in the auditorium,” said the child.
Reportedly, one of the suicide bombers blew himself up outside the school auditorium, sparking fears that many have been killed inside the school premises held hostage by the TTP militants.
