US Envoy to India Sergio Gor met US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, where he highlighted the importance Washington places on its relationship with India.
Gor, who is currently in the United States, shared a photo from the Oval Office on X, where he was also seen with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“Back in the US for a few days. First stop, meeting with our GREAT President in the White House. The President deeply cares about the relationship between the US and India," Gor said in a post on X on Tuesday evening.
Gor also serves as US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs
Gor assumed office as the US Ambassador to India in January this year. Prior to this role, he served as Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office and currently also holds responsibilities as the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
The meeting comes amid continued engagement between Washington and New Delhi on regional and strategic issues. Last week, the US Embassy in India shared remarks by Trump praising PM Narendra Modi.
Telephonic conversation between Trump and PM Modi
“Our amazing relationship with India will be even stronger going forward. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people that get things done, something that cannot be said for most,” Trump said.
PM Modi and Trump held a telephonic conversation earlier this week to discuss the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the war in West Asia.
