The two biggest nuclear powers, the United States and Russia, are talking tough about their weapons, making the world nervous. It feels like a return to the Cold War era, where each side tries to prove it has the better, more powerful bomb.
The latest fight started when Russian President Vladimir Putin made a big announcement.
He said Russia successfully tested a new, powerful cruise missile called the Burevestnik. Putin claimed this nuclear-powered missile has an almost unlimited range and can fly low with a path that no one can predict.
Of course, US President Donald Trump wasn’t one to let that slide.
Within moments, he slammed the Russian test as “inappropriate”—and followed it up with his signature flex about America’s military might.
Instead of naming a new missile, Trump talked about America’s power right now. He reminded everyone that the US has nuclear submarines.
“They know we have a nuclear submarine, the greatest in the world, right off their shores. So, I mean, it doesn’t have to go 8,000 miles. And they’re not playing games with us. We’re not playing games with them either. We test missiles all the time,” Trump said while interacting with reporters on Air Force One.
Trump’s message was simple: Russia’s long-range missile doesn’t matter much when a US warhead is already close to their border. He essentially said that while Russia has a new toy, the US is still better and closer.

Trump didn’t stop at just comparing weapons.
He also told Putin to stop fighting in Ukraine and end the war, which has been going on for years.
“He (Putin) ought to get the war ended. A war that should have taken one week is now in its fourth year,” said Trump.
Meanwhile, Putin has formally ended the plutonium disposal agreement with the United States, as reported by Russia Today (RT). This agreement was originally designed to limit the production of materials used for nuclear weapons.
After being passed by the lower house of Parliament and approved by the upper chamber last Wednesday, it became official on Monday when President Putin signed the legislation.
