Conflict between Iran and Israel continues to escalate with both nations firing missiles into each other’s territories, causing havoc in West Asia. The ongoing tussle entered the seventh day as the world watched closely, which way the conflict was heading.

Early Thursday, the Israeli military said that it was carrying out a “series of strikes” in Tehran and other parts of Iran.  On the same morning, Iran unleashed a fresh set of retaliatory attacks against Israel, causing extensive damage at a hospital in Tel Aviv. “There has been a strike on the hospital and extensive damage in various areas,” a Soroka Hospital spokesperson said. “We are currently assessing the damage, including injuries.”

In the midst of all this, US President Donald Trump said that he was still deciding whether the US would take part in Israel’s military action. He noted that Iran had contacted the US to discuss possible talks at the White House. However, he condemned Iran’s attack on American ally Israel.

10 things that happened on the 7th day of the Iran-Israel conflict

Here are 10 things that happened on the 7th day of the Iran-Israel conflict:

1. The Israeli army continued unleashing missile strikes across Iran, targeting the capital, Tehran. Explosions were also reported throughout the day in the central province of Isfahan as well as near Kahraj.

The Israeli authorities noted that it has struck 40 sites in Iran, including weapons facilities. Other strikes targeted two centrifuge production facilities – one in Tehran and one in Kahraj, the International Atomic Energy Agency said in a statement.

2. Meanwhile, Israel reported heavy damage at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba due to Iranian strikes. The authorities noted that at least 32 people were injured in the incident. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also issued a statement, describing the Iranian regime as ’terrorists’ and ’tyrants'

“This morning, Iran’s terrorist tyrants launched missiles at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba and a civilian population in the centre of the country,” Netanyahu said in a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter. The Israeli premier issued a separate warning against Tehran. “We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran,” he added.

3. In a separate announcement, the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) said that its air forces attacked the Nantaz nuclear weapon site. “The site houses unique components and equipment used to develop nuclear weapons, and projects are being developed there that enable the acceleration of the nuclear weapons programme,” Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said in the statement.

It is pertinent to note that it is not the first reported strike on Nantaz. Earlier this week, the IAEA said that centrifuges at Iran’s underground uranium enrichment plant at Natanz were likely to have been “severely damaged if not destroyed altogether” after Israeli strikes last Friday.

4. In the Thursday strikes, the Israeli forces attacked Iran’s Arak heavy-water nuclear reactor, a facility long viewed with concern by Western powers due to its potential to produce plutonium for weapons. According to Reuters, the site was hit shortly after Israel warned residents in the Arak-Khondab region to evacuate.

5. A report from the Wall Street Journal revealed that US President Donald Trump is mulling plans to attack Iran, but no final decision has been made in this regard. The report suggested that the POTUS is holding off on initiating strikes in case Iran agrees to abandon its nuclear programme.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the US is reportedly considering conducting strikes on Fordo, an underground uranium enrichment facility in Iran.

6.  On Thursday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei delivered his first televised address since Israel began its attacks on Friday. He wanted that any US military intervention in the conflict would be met with “irreparable consequences”.

In a separate interview with Al Jazeera, Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, warned that any US intervention would be “a recipe for an all-out war in the region”.

7. Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his country’s willingness to help mediate the crisis. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also said his country wants to see the crisis resolved diplomatically, insisting that Ankara could play a constructive role in resolving the conflict. However, Erdogan went on to accuse Israel of waging “crazed” attacks against Iran that amount to “state terrorism”.

8. When it comes to casualties, Israel’s strike on a vehicle in Isfahan’s Najafabad killed six people, including a pregnant woman and two children, Iranian state media reported. While Israel has not reported any deaths as of now, the recent strikes on an Israeli hospital injured 33 people.

9. A flight carrying 110 Indian nationals evacuated from Iran landed in Delhi on Thursday. The evacuation was conducted under Operation Sindhu. Earlier this week, Indian students in Tehran were moved out of the city. With the help of arrangements made by the Indian embassy, the Indian nationals crossed the border into Armenia under the same operation.

10. Israel’s military claimed that it is “operating freely” in Iranian skies while confirming one of its unmanned aircraft was downed in Iranian territory. Meanwhile, the Iranian statement media said that the country’s air forces shot down an Israeli drone and fighter jet.
