Freecharge has teamed up with Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) to allow payments using its digital/mobile wallet. It will allow users to pay at 1,420 CCD outlets in 187 cities with simple taps and wipes on their phone. It will go live across all outlets by May 9.
It promises to offer a switfer and safer experience with its patented on-the-go pin in less than 10 seconds. The On-The-Go-Pin has been developed keeping in mind the requirements of Quick Serving Restaurants (QSRs) and other sectors, claims the company. It further claims that the enhanced user interface allows 99% of the transactions to be completed within 10 seconds.
Govind Rajan, Chief Operating Officer, Freecharge said, “We are happy to partner with CCD a favourite coffee shop and hangout place among the youth of country. At Freecharge, our endeavour is to influence the daily payment habits of consumers and offer an assortment of merchants to help them move away from cash. With CCD, we will expand Freecharge’s digital payment ecosystem to include new users and expand our wallet reach to 187 cities including smaller towns like Dhanbad, Agartala, Jamshedpur, Meerut, Jabalpur, Nellore, Nalgonda, Kurukeshtra, Hubli, Mangalore etc.”
It should be noted that Freecharge has already partnered with McDonalds. It has been trying to foray into the offline space to create a digital payments ecosystem for consumers as well as merchants.
