Xiaomi is bolstering its Mi Home line with yet another offering. This one’s in the form of the Xiaomi Smart Mi Washing Machine built in collaboration with MiniJ.
The “Smart” washing machine gets its smarts from the Mi app that you can use to run one of 14 different laundry modes. As expected from Xiaomi, they’ve explained the specifications in detail (Specs? For a washing machine?). The machine is apparently uses an Amotec Kore DD inverter motor and Suspa shock absorbers. The latter might sound familiar to automobile enthusiasts, for Suspa is a German company that makes shock absorbers for the Mercedes Benz E-Class series of automobiles.
The washing machine is said to be 630mm high, 500mm wide and 415mm thick. It weighs 34kg and can handle a load of 2.8kg. You also get a child lock, a front-loading drum mechanism and a so called “cooking wash” that will wash your clothes in 95 degrees Celsius water to kill off bacteria like E.Coli.
The device will sell for 1,499 Yuan (around Rs 15,000), which does seem a lot for a machine with a 2.8kg capacity. The machine is also a China-exclusive for now and it’s doubtful that we’ll see it in India soon.
MiniJ is a Chinese refrigerator and washing machine manufacturer.
