Xiaomi is all set to showcase their Mi Max 2 at an event in China on 25 May, 2017. The company had recently confirmed the launch date via Weibo, a Chinese social media platform.
The upcoming phone will succeed the earlier Xiaomi Mi Max , whose trademark feature was its massive 6.44 inch display. Leaks specifications have thrown some light on what to expect from the new phablet.
There are two variants being launched, packed with 4 GB and 6 GB RAM. The former will be loaded with a Snapdragon 626 SoC, while the other will have the faster 660 SoC variant. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is expected to be priced at 1499 CNY (approximately Rs 14,000) for the 4 GB variant and 1699 CNY (roughly Rs 15,900) for the 6 GB variant.
The screen size would be same as that of the previous model at 6.44 inches and will have a Full HD (1080 x 1920) display. The phone will most likely have a 12 MP rear camera with a Sony IMX378 sensor and a 5 MP front camera.
Xiaomi is also expected to introduce a 128GB variant of the Mi Max 2.
According to the latest leaks the phone has been rumoured to pack a mammoth 5,349 mAh battery. Mi Max 2 will sport a full metal body along with a USB type-C port. Leaks have shown the 3.5mm jack to be on the top and a fingerprint sensor located centrally on the backside of the phone like its predecessor. The phone will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat underneath Xiaomi’s very own MIUI OS.
The smartphone has been reportedly subjected to the Geekbench 4.1 benchmark test by someone who was already in possession of the phone. The single-core score turned out to be 870 and multi-core score of 4209.
