Xiaomi could unveil the Mi 6 on 16 April say latest rumours

Xiaomi’s next flagship smartphone, the Mi 6 is rumoured to arrive this year and a certain source claims that it will be unveiled on 16 April. The source also claims that the handset will feature a ceramic body along with a 5.2-inch LCD display with a 2.5D curved glass.

According to MyDrivers the Mi 6 will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 835 SoC which will be slightly under clocked similar to what Xiaomi did last year with the Mi 5.

Now the thing to note here is that if Xiaomi uses the new chip it won’t be allowed to sell the handset before April since Samsung had somehow managed to get exclusive first access to the chip. This makes the leaked launch date altogether believable. The Mi 6 is expected to launch in three variants; 4GB RAM with 32GB internal memory, 4GB with 64GB internal memory and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal memory. Pricing is expected to start at CNY 1999 (approx Rs 20,000) to CNY 2500 (approx Rs 25,000) for all the variants. Also only the 6GB RAM variant will feature the ceramic body.

Xiaomi recently launched it’s own mobile chipset called Pinecone Surge S1 along with the Mi 5C and the Redmi 4X smartphones in China. There were rumours before that the handset will be launched in three SoC varieties one of which could be the in-house chip.
