WhatsApp now allows users to pin chats, also introduces VoIP calling interface

WhatsApp developers continue to gradually introduce new features and changes to the popular messaging app. Days after the company introduced improvements in the Live location sharing , the company has revamped the calling interface for both video calls as well as audio calls in the app. The new interface brings it close to the material design guidelines for the calling interface. One thing to note here is that this interface is under testing and currently available as a hidden feature in WhatsApp Beta for Android.

The interface change was reported by WABetaInfo and will gradually roll out to users. In addition to changing the calling interface, the company has made the conversation pinning feature  available to all the Beta users. As previously reported, the feature allows users to pin conversations with contacts or groups in the ‘Chats’ tap on the top.

Users will be able to pin chats (not more than 3, at the moment). The feature is expected to make its way to the public in the coming updates to Android, iOS and Windows Phone users. The company is also working on additional features like the Album features and  notifying your contacts when you change your contact number. In addition to these features, WhatsApp is also set to test a separate offering, a WhatsApp for Business app in India.
