WhatsApp is finally rolling out group descriptions for everyone

WhatsApp has finally started rolling out group description for its users on iOS and Android.

It was previously discovered as a hidden feature in the beta version of WhatsApp  for both the platforms in questions. Don’t worry if the feature is not visible on your WhatsApp as it is likely that the feature is rolling out in a staged manner. This means that it may not be available for everyone immediately.

As for how this new feature works, the users or the administrator of a group can add a line of text to define the purpose of a WhatsApp group. This description is visible for users who join that particular group or help users get additional context about the group before they join the group with the help of an invite link.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp group description is available for iOS users running version 2.18.31 of WhatsApp. Android user using version 2.18.79 or later will be able to make use of the group description feature.

This comes days after WhatsApp added a new feature that would block any invalid delete requests for messages.

As previously reported , this is likely in response to users using modded and unauthorised versions of the app to exploit the feature to delete messages dating back to up to 3 years.
