WhatsApp developers accidentally enabled the ‘Edit’ feature by default in the official beta version for Android. This feature was reported earlier this month along with the revoke feature to let users edit the messages or revoke the image. If you are on Android Beta version 2.17.26 then you can see the ‘Edit’ option for a selected option using the three dot menu towards the upper right corner.
One thing to note is that nothing happens while selecting the ‘Edit’ function so we assume that this function requires more development or a server side change on the companies end. The reason that the developers enabled this feature by accident is because the company issued another update for Android Beta channel this morning. The new version, 2.17.27 disabled the edit function again for users.
According to the famed WhatsApp leaker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has added the revoke function and a new update to the Status UI for WhatsApp. The company has finally added the functionality to delete the ‘Status’ stories that you add to your status section.
As I wrote, WhatsApp disabled the Edit feature in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.17.27. https://t.co/77QcP2e1QV
