The Grand Master (GM) of iOS 11 has been leaked online. Rummaging through the leaked files reveals a great deal about the upcoming iPhones, and even some awesome new wallpapers designed specifically for OLED displays.
While the design of the upcoming iPhones is all but confirmed, a number of rumoured features, which are also as good as confirmed, have been revealed in the leaked GM. 9to5Mac has thoroughly inspected the GM and reported its findings here .
A summary of the findings are as follows:
New wallpapers
Everyone’s expecting at least one of the new iPhones, the tenth anniversary edition phone rumoured to have been dubbed the iPhone Edition, will come with an OLED display. Every version of iOS does come with new wallpapers, especially some that are specific to a new phone. For example, the iPhone 6s line doesn’t get some of the live wallpapers that made their way to the iPhone 7.
The iOS 11 GM reveals what appear to be wallpapers that are specifically designed to take advantage of the superlative contrast ratios of OLED displays with some vibrant wallpapers. New wallpapers for the iPad have also been leaked. The wallpapers have been hosted on 9to5Mac and can be downloaded on their site from here . The display is likely to offer a resolution of 1125x2436 and support True Tone, as seen on the iPad Pro.
Camera updates There’s a new Portrait Lighting mode in the firmware. We don’t know what it does exactly, but the name suggests that it has something to do with the flash when using portrait mode. 9to5Mac has also discovered a few new camera modes, including native support for 4K 60 fps recording and 1080p 240 fps recording.
BiometricKit The recent HomePod firmware leak mentioned that the new facial recognition feature will be called Face ID. The iOS 11 GM also corroborates that leak. 9to5Mac also discovered an animation embedded in the firmware that explains how to use Face ID.

Other updates include 3D emojis, a new AirPods animation, more evidence of the lack of a home button and some details on how the side button will work. Double-clicking it apparently opens up Apple Pay cards and pressing and holding it appears to invoke Siri.

The new AirPods animation shows a new design for the AirPod case, which now has a power indicator on the front rather than inside the charging cradle. If true, this means that checking on the charge on your AirPods or case will be much easier.
The Apple Watch pairing screen has also been updated to reveal what appears to be a new Apple Watch. Looking closer at the image reveals what could be indicators for cellular signal strength, confirming that an LTE-enabled Apple Watch is indeed on the way. A look at the leaked Apple Watch GM reveals that the LTE-enabled device will use the same number as your iPhone. Anyone calling your number will connect to your Watch or iPhone directly. 9to5Mac speculates that you might have to pay your carrier a little more to enable the feature.
Judging by these leaks, it now looks like we can expect three new iPhones, at least one, new Apple Watch, a new 4K ready Apple TV and slightly redesigned AirPods.
