In what appears to be a race to offer the lowest prices to counter the Reliance Jio’s 4G plans , Telenor seems to have come up with something jaw-dropping indeed. The telecom operator is now providing a new data plan that gives its subscribers 56GB of 4G data at just Rs 47.
As always there is a catch. The plan basically lets its subscribers access 4G data with a 2GB daily data cap. Unlike what Jio has on offer, the Telenor’s plan is only to do with data and does not offer any other benefits, services and no unlimited calling either.
More importantly, you will need to be in Telenor’s 4G circles to qualify for the plan. Telenor will notify its eligible customers about the new data plan via SMS.
Telenor already has a data plan that offers 1GB data per day and costs Rs 11. There is also another one which offers 2GB of 4G data at Rs 147. However, these are on a per day basis while the new plan works on a monthly basis with a daily data cap.
Not too long ago, Vodafone too pulled up its socks and offered 24GB data to its subscribers, but this is a much broader plan that spans across three months.
Bharti Airtel recently signed an agreement with Norwegian multinational telecommunications company Telenor to acquire its Telenor (India) Communications Ltd. In short, Telenor India will soon merge with Airtel as per a joint statement.
