While Samsung is still grappling with the Galaxy Note 7 controversy, a leaked invite for MWC ’17 suggests that the rest of the company’s launch schedule is unaffected.
You must be aware of the fact that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices have been randomly blowing up, forcing Samsung to issue a recall. Unfortunately for Samsung, even the recalled devices have started blowing up.
In the midst of all this ruckus, someone leaked out an early invite for MWC 2017 from Samsung. The invite refers to a “Samsung Galaxy Unpacked” event at the venue (Barcelona), that’s scheduled for 26 February 2017.
Considering Samsung’s history, the invite is most likely referring to the Samsung Galaxy S8, the successor to the S7.
Some had expected Samsung to release the S8 a little early in order to deal with the bad press from the Note 7 fiasco. Assuming that invite is real, Samsung is actually sticking to its schedule.
Many have pointed fingers at Samsung for rushing the Galaxy Note 7 development in order to be first to market (before Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus). Keeping that in mind, it might actually be a good thing that Samsung isn’t rushing the Galaxy S8’s production.
