Reddit begins limited roll out of new Profile Pages for content creators

Reddit has rolled out , what many would call its biggest change in years. The company has pushed out its all-new Profile Pages for a limited set of content creators. The same will be available to all users shortly.

Individual users on Reddit will soon be able to create and curate their own profile page. Users can simply follow each others pages, which makes for a better way to discover content on the network.

Indeed, this is a lot easier both for users and content creators to view and discover new content, all of which will be available on one page, instead of being spread out across various themed subreddits.

“We’re making this change because content creators tell us they have a hard time finding the right place to post their content,” said Reddit in its announcement.

The new pages will allow users to add posts directly to their profile and logged redditors can follow them.

As always, the avatar on the profile page may not necessarily be a picture of the user like on other social networks. Redditors names as well will never be attached to the profile pages either.

For now, the move to roll out profile pages has seen both positive and negative responses on the post page. While the feature is out only for a few alpha testers, a broader roll out will tell whether the feature will stick around for good.
