OnePlus has released the second update for the Android Nougat 7.0-based OxygenOS 4 in the year 2017. This update comes right after the launch on Android Nougat 7.0 update on 31 December 2016. The Nougat update is still rolling out in batches, and for most people, this is the third update from the company in less than 18 days. The new update does not bring anything new to the table, and it is a bug fixing update patching the notorious Google Play Store download bug plaguing users in addition to increased stability.
The Play Store download bug is nothing new and many users had reported the bug on OnePlus forums. One interesting thing to note here is that this is not limited to OnePlus and the bug is in fact part of AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Google has fixed the bug in the Android Nougat 7.1.1 update, but it’s nice to see an OEM take charge and fix the bug. Another thing to note is that the Android Security Patch level of the update still reads 1 December 2016 with no addition of January Security Patches.
You can wait for the OTA (Over-the-air) update for your OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T devices as the update is rolling out in batches. OnePlus has significantly improved the speed of releasing updates. You can check the updated changelog down below:
