Be it Facebook or Snapchat, everyone is working at making video discovery easy on their platforms. The next in line is Pinterest, and why not? In a blogpost , Pinterest has announced it is developing a fully integrated native video player.
The company is working to help users discover videos with personalised recommendations. This will let users find videos that match their unique tastes. We are also working on a fully integrated video player which will allow users to watch videos on Pinterest better than ever.
Just like other social sites, Pinterest has also seen a significant increase in the way users consume videos. It has seen about 60 percent increase over the past year. It points out workouts, home projects, hair and beauty as some of the categories that saw the increase. Moreover, the blogpost also claims that users are twice as likely to try out ideas that they discover on social network when the content is accompanied by a video.
“With so many bloggers, brands and other experts using video to share their ideas, it’s more important than ever that the video experience be as seamless as possible, and we’ve got some big improvements in the works,” Steve Davis, Product Manager writes.
The new changes will be implemented in the next few months.
In the bid to monetise, Pinterest has been seen adding timely updates. It is working to move beyond being just an eye-candy with the new Shopping bag feature and a host of other updates. A latest report claimed that it is looking to turn the social or rather ‘discovery’ network into a shopping site. Something many have tried in the past, but didn’t emerge successful.
