Nokia 8.1 to launch today in Dubai at 8.30 pm: Here's how to watch it live

“Expect More” — that’s what Nokia’s been telling us for a while now or wants us to believe that a similar sentiment will echo at an event by **HMD Global** in Dubai today at 8.30 pm IST. While Nokia with each post has said that “Something smarter is coming” our way, the media seems to be quite sure that the there’s nothing new really. The global variant of Nokia 8.1, along with **Nokia 3.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus** , is expected to be launched today. Rumour has it that the device is the global variant or the rebranded version of the Nokia X7 which was launched recently in China. Besides a few clues in a teaser which are in favour of the rumour, Nokia hasn’t officially announced which phones are being launched.

Nokia 8.1: How to watch the launch event live

The video will be streamed online on Nokia’s YouTube channel. You can also watch it live here.

Nokia 8.1: Here’s all we know about the Nokia 8.1

The most recent leak which hints that the Nokia 8.1 is the Nokia X7 is a **teaser video** which was leaked by the publication NokiaPowerUser, revealing some key specs about the device like a Zeiss dual rear camera, better low-light photography and a fingerprint sensor at the back. All the specs and the colours of the device are similar to the Nokia X7. Also, the same publication **published a report** that with what it claims are the official images of Nokia 8.1 and the marketing material for the device. The leaked images reveal specifications like 6.18-inch display, Snapdragon 710 SoC, 3,500 mAh camera and more which coincide with the Nokia X7. Nokia X7. Image: Nokia Nokia X7. Image: Nokia Besides these, a tweet by Nokia itself hints that the Nokia 8.1, is, after all, going be the Nokia X7 because that is the only smartphone from the company with a dark red or rosy colour as the video suggests. **Check it out** . The device is expected to make its way to India on 10 December. It is most likely that the device is as rumoured, but we never know.

Nokia X7 specifications

The Nokia X7 features a 6.18-inch notched screen with a 1080p resolution. It has Nokia’s ‘PureDisplay’, which is also seen on the Nokia 7.1. It is said to feature SDR to HDR video conversion in real time as well. HMD claims that the X7 has an 86.5 percent screen to body ratio. The phone is powered by the relatively new and rare Snapdragon 710 SoC and is expected to arrive in storage options which include 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. In terms of optics, there is a dual camera on the back with a 12 MP Sony IMX363 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 13 MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The device offers a 20 MP selfie camera which is being housed in the notch up front. The camera app of the phone uses extensive AI functions like AI bokeh effect, AI recognition for 18 scenes and much more. The lens is Zeiss branded. The device will run **Android 8.1 Oreo** for the time-being and Android 9 Pie is expected at a later date. There is a support for 18 W fast charger to fill half of the 3,500 mAh battery in just 30 minutes. It works over the USB-C port.
