Now that Nokia's (read HMD) current portfolio for 2017 has been announced. Fans who have waited years for a Nokia smartphone, can finally breath a sigh of relief as there's finally a time frame, if not a date for the official launch of the smartphones in India.
According to Times of India who spoke to HMD Mobile India president, Ajey Mehta, the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 3310 will be launched at the end of Q2, 2017. Indeed this means that fans who waited since the official reveal of the smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2017 will not have to wait too long, as they would be out in a few months from now.
Another interesting bit to be noted here is that HMD will announce or launch all of the above mentioned mobile phones at once. When quizzed about why it wants to pull off the same, Mehta said that HMD wanted a complete device portfolio to be available for customers in India.
Arriving in India with both smartphones and a feature phone in its portfolio, would deliver devices at a number of price points, giving Nokia's customers plenty of choice.
Mehta in the interview also revealed that HMD will not just deliver the Nokia mobile phones and be done with it. It also has plans for exchange offers and credit facilities at launch, which should attract plenty of buyers to what used to be a household name when came to mobile phones half a decade ago.
Let's hope that the company also works on a service network for the same.
