Earlier Motorola had taken stock of the issue and apologised in a Facebook post, stating that it would be working on a fix soon.

The post said, "Dear #MotoG customers, we’ve uncovered an activation problem with some #MotoG devices sold in India as they have been shipped with IMEI numbers that are not yet registered with carriers. If you have recently purchased a Moto G and have network connectivity problems this may apply to you. This is due to a programming error from our end and we owe you a big apology!"

It was not clear how many phones were affected by this issue. However a quick glance at Motorola's Facebook page shows that many people are still facing this issue. Some users have posted saying that their Moto G phones with 3533 IMEI were still not connecting with their carrier network as the number is not get registered. Motorola has asked users to restart their smartphone to fix this problem.

When an IMEI number is not recognised, the smartphone doesn't connect with the carrier network. For now those who are still facing the issue can dial 1800-102-2344 or visit MotoSerivceCenter for more queries.

We had noted in our review that the Moto G was probably the best Android in the budget category, with superior build and software support.

For Motorola, this issue means that some users are definitely going to be go away with a bad impression. The Moto G was the fastest selling-smartphone on Flipkart, but the issue with IMEI numbers will likely leave a bunch of angry buyers.
