LineageOS, the custom ROM alternative that replaced the forcibly killed, yet popular, CyanogenMod (CM) is growing steadily. The collective has rebranded its name to Lineage along with a new logo and replaced all the instances to distance itself from CM and Cyanogen. Even though, the collective no longer has the strong financial backing as it did form its commercial arm, still it has successfully managed to band together the infrastructure in terms of servers and gerrit account to help development back on track.
Device managers have progressively shifted from CM to LineageOS codebase, gradually adding their ROMs to the official list of supported devices. However, this does not mean that the group is not adding newer devices to the fold. Recently, the group added official support to a number of new devices with the latest addition being Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 8 tablet and others.
Official LineageOS ROMs are now available for Exynos-based Galaxy S7, model number SM-G930F and codename herolte , S7 Edge, model number SM-G935F, codename hero2lte , Galaxy Tab S2 9.7-inch Wi-Fi, codename gts210wifi and Tab S2 9.2-inch LTE, codename gts210ltexx . Other tablets including the GSM codename n5100 , Wi-Fi codename n5110 and LTE codename n5120 variants of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablet also have been updated to LineageOS 14.1.
