Huawei has officially released the exact time frame as to when its smartphones will be updated with Android Marshmallow. The company's Indian subsidiary Honor India tweeted out the devices which will receive the update will include the Honor 7, Honor 6 Plus, Honor 6, Honor 4X and Honor 4C.
The company had also announced on its Weibo account that the Ascend P8, Ascend P8max, Mate S, Mate 7, Ascend G7, Ascend G7 Plus, and Ascend G8 will begin receiving the update in China starting this month.
According to an earlier report, Huawei has surpassed Xiaomi as top Chinese smartphone company. According to independent analyst company Canalys, as on Q2 2015, Huawei is China’s top smartphone vendor, while Xiaomi has fallen to the second place. The leap by Huawei has brought it to the leading position for the first time in China’s highly competitive smartphone market. This is backed by an 81 percent year-on-year device shipment growth.
According to a report by Canalys, ‘Huawei’s ascent to China’s smart phone throne is a remarkable feat, especially in the context of an increasingly cutthroat and maturing Chinese smart phone market,’ said Jessie Ding, a Research Analyst based in Canalys’ Shanghai office.
