HTC is preparing to unveil the All New One or the 2014 One at an event on March 25. But it might consider moving up that event by a few days.
A 12-minute video has popped up on YouTube detailing the 2014 flagship HTC One or HTC M8. The video shows the new flagship up against the older HTC One.
As we can see, the new One will be considerably larger than the departing model. Last year’s HTC One , despite having a great design and superior build quality, was a tad too big for its display size. This time around there’s a larger 5-inch display, so naturally the body size has increased.
HTC has not mucked about too much in the design department. The M8 features softer curves around the side and a glossier finish than the previous model. It’s almost like the brushed aluminium look we have become used to seeing on Asus notebooks and tablets. The new One will have a microSD card slot, on the right edge, while the SIM slot will be on the left edge, just as it is currently.
We get a glimpse of the revamped BlinkFeed homescreen functionality, along with a look at what HTC is planning to do with the rest of the UI. To be honest, we couldn’t spot too many changes, but the phone was quite fast even at this stage. HTC has gone with on-screen buttons this time around so no capacitive keys. The phone did keep crashing which indicated that it might not be a final build. The person behind the video claims it’s a developer version.
The big surprise here is the second camera on the back, which unfortunately has not been detailed in the video. The guy does mention that the camera is ‘spectacular’ in comparison to the older One, but said he doesn’t know what the second camera is for.
