Google announced in a blog post that it has made a number of improvements to Google+. A new layout gives more prominence to the images shared and reduces the amount of whitespace in the design. In a feature oriented towards photographers who share a lot of high resolution photographs on the platform, Google+ has now integrated the ability to zoom into a picture in the interface for Google+ itself.

Low quality comments are now hidden by default. Google uses machine learning to analyse the content of comments, and spammy comments are hidden by default. This automatically brings to the top the most high quality comments. Users can choose to still look at all the comments by selecting an option to do so.

Events are back. Events were previously pulled as a feature and is now making a return. The Events feature will not be available on Gsuite. Users can start scheduling Events and notifying the organisers of their intention to attend starting from 24 January. The classic Google+ will no longer be available. Some of the new features and design layout have been available to a section of users.

The features are all community or user requested, and Google+ has said that the new features will be rolled out worldwide over the next few weeks. The updates will be available across Android and iOS devices, as well as the web interface. Google+ had previously upgraded the platform with more powerful tools for community moderators, as well as the ability to create and share collections. Google is actively looking for more feedback on the platform, to make it even better.
