Even though Google Glass is not yet on store shelves, Google has released an update for the lucky few who have got their hands on the device.

According to a report by Phandroid, the update was sent over the air and dubbed XE5 to owners of the XEB model on Tuesday night.

The update has given Glass incoming notifications from Google Plus, including the ability to comment on posts, share directly from Glass, get notifications of +1 mentionsand the ability to +1 one posts. Glass will also get Hangout notifications. It seems the new update also comes with a change to the sync policy which requires the device to be plugged in and have WiFi access for any background uploads to take place. This will probably help with the battery life of the device.

He said, "There will be thousands of [Google Glass] in use by developers over the next months, and then based on their feedback, we'll make some product changes, and it's probably a year-ish away."
