Facebook will now suggest businesses you should chat with on Messenger: Report

Look’s like Facebook has found an interesting way to monetize its Messenger app. The company will now start suggesting businesses that one might want to chat with. Some users have already reported seeing a new section in the app and when one will type “search for people and groups” in the search bar, a special new section labeled “Suggested Businesses” will appear.

Business Insider’s Biz Carson explains, “So far, the feature includes a seemingly small sampling of businesses, but it does point to Facebook’s larger ambitions of turning talking to businesses into a business itself.”

The report further adds that currently, there are 20 companies which were listed and Facebook will allow users to chat with these businesses with the help of their chat services. He also said, “Facebook, like many internet companies, often conduct limited ‘bucket tests’ with a select group of users, so it’s possible that this is just an experiment rather than a definite new feature.”

According to a previous report, Facebook Messenger might soon get secret conversations and in-store payments as well.   The Information had got its hands on code in the iPhone version of Facebook’s Messenger that hints at new chat and in-store payment options. If this is true, then Facebook Messenger may be getting some exciting new features very soon.

The code also hints at some other features, such as calendar sync for events, sharing quotes from articles and updates among only a select group of friends.
