Facebook has just updated its Messenger app for iOS users which is said to bring in a subtle change to how users start a conversation. The new version of the app comes with an updated homescreen that will pop up once you open the app. It will show the most recent sent and received messages, followed by your favourite contacts.
The revamped Home tab will also give you reminders for important upcoming events and birthdays. A simple tap will let you quickly wish someone a happy birthday right from the new Messenger homescreen. Lastly you get a list of all the friends that are currently online and as usual you can search for a particular contact to start a conversation. Facebook is also bringing 1500 new and more diverse emojis to the Messenger app as well.
Facebook’s official press release said,
“Now, you’ll see your conversations and ways to connect right where you need them most. You’ll still see the first few most recent messages at the top of your screen, followed by a new Favorites section, which highlights people you message most frequently, so you can quickly pick up your last conversation.
We hope to show you other things happening on Messenger that you might be interested in, too. For example, with the Active Now section, you can see that a good friend or colleague is available in the moment. Maybe that will prompt you to say hi!
We’re also adding helpful reminders like people’s birthdays so you can wish them a happy day.”
