2014: Since the IPO of Twitter in 2013, the stock price plunged from $73 to $37 a year later in 2014. The abysmal IPO coupled with an unsuccessful monetisation strategy casted widespread doubt over Costolo’s ability to boost earnings.

In fact, the service has allowed celebrities, politicians and prominent personalities connect with their audience and removed the traditional use of middlemen.
