Apple is all set to update the 21.5-inch iMac model with a 4K display.

Apple is all set to update the 21.5-inch iMac model with a 4K display, according to a report by 9To5Mac.

Citing sources related to the matter, the report claims the company is looking to announce a refreshed variant of the smaller iMac by the end of October along with the OS X El Captain. It will start shipping the device by the start of November.

The all new  21.5 inch iMac’s 4K display is said to feature a resolution of 4096 x 2304. This means it is increased from the 1920 x 1080 screen resolution found in the current model. Higher resolution could also mean a more expensive product. Moreover, the report also points out at the possibility of faster processors and improved colour saturation.

It is still unclear if Apple will release multiple models of the 21.5-inch iMac in October. There is no word on the chips to be used in the system, but it is highly speculated to be the Skylake chips.

It should be noted that Apple hasn't updated the 21.5-inch iMac since 2013. Earlier this year, the company had refreshed the 27-inch iMac lineup, along with new models of the MacBook Pro.
