Apple is currently working on the next update for iOS, its mobile OS that powers iPhones and iPads. The new update is iOS 10.3, and the company is working on the project under the code name ‘Erie’ which makes it the 8th update for iOS 10 in four months. According to a report by Forbes iOS, 10.3 will include a new ‘Theatre Mode’ which can be enabled using a popcorn-shaped icon in the Control Center.

There is not much known about the mode on what it aims at accomplishing but according to the famed leaker for Apple and iOS things, Sonny Dickson thinks that the mode could be an enhanced Dark Mode which will mute audio and notifications on your iPhone. Dickson was the one to leak the new bits on iOS 10.3 in a series of tweets on his profile. This will make it ideal for theatres where the people around you will not be disturbed or distracted by your smartphone usage. The mode can disable haptic feedback, block incoming calls and messages during the movie to ensure that you don’t use your smartphone. According to a report by appleinsider , the company owns some patents dating back to 2012 where the Theatre mode is automatically activated from the specified set of GPS coordinates and cellular triangulation. However, the feature could also be related to video or movie playback which can work as an optimised video viewing mode, but that does not qualify for being placed in the Control Center.

Dickson further revealed in his tweets that the iOS 10.3 beta one is scheduled to seed on 10 January. We are hoping that the company fixed the iPhone 30 percent bug that has been plaguing iPhone 5 and iPhonr 6S Plus users where the phone shuts down on 30 percent of battery life.
