Apple just hauled in its highest single day sales by selling $240 million worth of purchases from its App Store. Yes, that $240 million worth of app sales in just one day!
Indeed the ones that helped Apple and iOS developers reel in this massive chunk of sales are its loyal customers. These are the same customers who helped Apple break the its all-time sales record generating a whopping $3 billion in the month of December, 2016. And most of these would also be responsible for getting a game like Mario, 40 million downloads in just 4 days.
“2016 was a record-shattering year for the App Store, generating $20 billion for developers, and 2017 is off to a great start with 1 January as the single biggest day ever on the App Store,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “We want to thank our entire developer community for the many innovative apps they have created — which together with our products — help to truly enrich people’s lives.”
It was not too long ago, that Apple used the same App Store that is available in 155 countries for its (RED) initiative, giving customers more ways than one to take part in its mission for an AIDS-free generation.
The money raised by (RED) funds programs that offer counselling, testing, prevention and, most crucially, the life-saving ARV medication that prevents the transmission of HIV from mothers to their unborn babies.
