Despite news of continuously declining tablet sales, Samsung, like Apple, still appears to be intent on pushing out high-end tablets from time-to-time. Specifications and performance figure of an updated Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 tablet device appear to have been leaked on GFXBench.
The leaked specifications suggest that the updated tablet (listed as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 SM-T820, SM-T825) features a Snapdragon 820 chipset at 2.1GHz. RAM is listed as 3.3GB, so we assume it’s a 4GB RAM device.
The tested model also boasts of a 9.6-inch Amoled display with a 2048x1536 resolution screen. A 12MP rear camera and a 4.7MP front camera have also been listed. With a T-Rex score of 3,300 frames in GFXBench, the results are on par with other Snapdragon 820-powered devices that we’ve seen.
This is still a pleasant surprise though. We were expecting the tablet to be powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7420 chip.
It’s a little surprising that Samsung didn’t use the updated Snapdragon 821 chip here, but the difference between the two chips is minimal anyway.
Of course, we won’t see Snapdragon 835-powered devices until the end of April anyway.
Details of the storage and connectivity are unknown, but earlier rumours hinted at high-speed UFS 2.0 storage and a USB Type-C connector.
