E-commerce giant Amazon seems to be up there when it comes to the latest trends in tech. Whether its drone deliveries, voice assistants that help you buy more, or just a simple button that will let you repeat an order to your cart. So why should virtual reality be a distant dream? Well, according to a recent job posting  (login required) on LinkedIn by a subsidiary of Amazon, the online shopping giant could be looking at virtual reality (VR) as the next frontier of shopping.

That subsidiary would be A9, a company that specializes in product search and advertising solutions for Amazon (and other clients as well). According to the job posting, A9 is looking for a “Creative Director, Virtual Reality”, one who would be responsible for “building Amazon’s VR shopping experience for use by millions of customers on a variety of devices.”

Shedding some light on the job posting are details regarding the team. “Our team is composed of engineers, designers, product managers and scientists, and we are building Amazon’s VR shopping experience for use by millions of customers on a wide variety of VR devices.”

So it is pretty clear that Amazon is now looking at VR to take the shopping experience to the next level. How it plans to do it or whether it is looking at AR for shopping instead, now stands as a giant question mark. But considering that it has been taking strides in all the right directions so far, VR may might as well be their next big hit after Alexa.
