Some Reddit users have spotted a new feature for Amazon Alexa. Where Alexa would normally respond with “OK” or some other such appropriate response to a query, there is now an option to make Alexa respond with a beep.
The mode has been dubbed “Brief mode” and Amazon seems to be rolling out the feature to various Echo devices. Engadget reports that the option has also appeared in the iOS app, version 2.2.202313.0, which rolled out on the 15 March.
The Verge reports that the only difference between ‘Brief mode’ and the normal mode appears to be the beeping.
It’s a rather obvious feature in hindsight and should go a long way towards speeding up our interactions with our virtual assistants, it’s simply, more efficient.
