Acer has released the Aspire GX-281 U-11 which the company claims is designed to perform, premium, everyday computing and graphics-intensive tasks as well as offer an unforgettable gaming experience.
The GX-281 PC houses a Rzyen 1400 processor clocked at 3.2 GHz with a GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, 8GB of DDR4 memory, and a 1TB hard drive. Given that this is a budget offering, the configuration isn't exactly spectacular, but with the latest NVIDIA 1050 GPU, it should be able to run games at 1080p at medium settings.
Acer mentions in its press release that the device is 4K-ready, which is true, however, it is not advisable to run games at a 4K resolution. The power under the hood of the PC is not enough to push that many pixels on the screen. The Aspire GX-281 supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM and supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE. The PC will come pre-installed with Windows 10.
On the front of the PC there is a USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-C port in addition to two USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Type-A ports and four USB 2.0 ports. Display output is provided by an HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort interface. Wi-Fi 802.11 ac support is included. It has a striking and edgy, armour-inspired design with front-facing LED lighting which emits a red glow.
Acer says it's designed to appeal to mainstream users who care as much about price as about power. The Acer Aspire GX-281-UR11 has a suggested price of $800, and will be available from leading retailers soon.
