Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to take stock of NPAs at review meet on 12 June

Non-performing assets (NPAs) of public sector banks (PSBs) have gone past the Rs 6 lakh crore mark

Union Budget 2017 is a total miss on banking reforms, economy will pay a price for it

During his speech, Jaitley said the government will take care of the additional capital requirements of these banks, but past experience have shown such assurances have hardly materialized.

Budget 2017: Govt to infuse Rs 10,000 cr in PSU banks in FY18

In line with the blueprint, public sector banks has been given Rs 25,000 crore in each fiscal, 2015—16 and 2016—17. Besides, Rs 10,000 crore each would be infused in 2017—18 and 2018—19.
