No Indian woman has won an Olympic medal in shooting. Dentist and Shooter Heena Sidhu intends to change that. She has been busy training ahead of Rio. The 26-year-old lives and breathes for pistol shooting. Sidhu wasn’t able to grab a podium finish at the London Olympics. But her husband and coach Ronak Pandit is still confident and believes that things will be different this time around.
Sidhu has had a good winning streak in recent tournaments, bagging the gold medal in Asia’s Olympic qualifying tournament. The pressure is on Sidhu since she is one of India’s biggest hope for a medal at Rio, but she remains unfazed. “I’ve shot so many high-pressure matches since that (London) Olympics where I’ve gotten the medal so it gives you that confidence,” she explained to AFP at Mumbai’s Maharashtra Rifle Association.
