Virender Sehwag joins the Tendulkar-Warne cricket extravaganza in the United States

New Delhi: Dashing opener Virender Sehwag, who announced his retirement from international cricket last week, is the latest high-profile cricketer to join the All-Star Series in the United States, promoted by Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne. Sehwag will leave for the US after playing Haryana’s next Ranji Trophy encounter against Bengal at Lahli which starts from October 30.

Warm welcome to my friend & a batsman with his distinct style! @virendersehwag joins us at @T20AllStars #10DaystoGo pic.twitter.com/qL1OsaKyej

— Sachin Tendulkar (@sachin_rt) October 27, 2015

The All-Stars matches are scheduled for November 7 in New York, November 11 in Houston and November 14 in Los Angeles. Thus Sehwag, who is captaining Haryana this season, will miss two matches against Assam, starting November 7 and Odisha on November 15. “Every match he is part of this team is huge for this team. Every interaction with him benefits the players. We are looking at him mentoring the players and our objective is achieved by his presence around the squad. Once a player has announced his international retirement, anything he contributes at Ranji level we should gleefully accept,” Anirudh Chaudhary, secretary of the Haryana Cricket Association, was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. Sehwag also recently confirmed his participation in Dean Jones’ Masters Cricket League (MSL) Twenty 20 to be held in Dubai next year. PTI
