Simran was born prematurely with visual impairment, she faced numerous challenges throughout her life, including her father’s chronic illness and eventual passing. Despite these hardships, Simran remained steadfast in her pursuit of athletic excellence.

Simran’s father, Manoj Sharma, was a constant source of inspiration and support, even during his own struggles with health. Her mother, a pillar of strength, managed the household and cared for the family. These early experiences shaped Simran’s character, instilling in her a fighting spirit and a desire to overcome obstacles.

Simran’s athletic journey began in school, where she excelled in various sports and won numerous medals. However, financial constraints made it difficult for her to access proper training facilities and coaching. This changed when she met Gajender Singh, a fellow athlete and army soldier, who became her coach, and now her husband.

Gajender recognized Simran’s potential and dedicated himself to her training. He provided the necessary support, both financially and emotionally, to help Simran to pursue her dreams. His unwavering commitment and belief in Simran’s abilities were crucial in her journey to becoming a world-class para-athlete.

Simran’s breakthrough came at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championship where she competed despite the uncertainty and fear of losing her father. Although she faced the devastating loss of her father shortly after returning from the event, Simran channeled her grief into motivation, determined to honor his memory through her achievements. She later qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
