Numbers Game: The five lowest scores in T20I history

Netherlands were today bowled out for the lowest total ever in a Twenty20 International when they managed to score only 39 against Sri Lanka.

Angelo Mathews and Ajantha Mendis took three wickets each while Lasith Malinga took two wickets. Nuwan Kulasekara got a wicket and also bowled two maidens.

Tom Cooper was the top-scorer for Netherlands with 16. No other Netherlands batsman managed to reach double figures, with the second highest score being Ben Cooper's 8. The third highest scorer was Extras, with 6. Five batsmen made zero as the Netherlands failed to cope with the movement of Mathews, the yorkers of Malinga and the guile of Mendis.

Sri Lanka easily overhauled their target in just five overs, giving them the largest ever T20 international victory in terms of balls remaining, a whopping 90.

Before Netherlands, it was Kenya who were in the unenviable position of scoring the least runs in a T20I — their 56 vs Afghanistan. In fact, they were even second-worse in the table with their 67 vs Ireland.
