Indian skipper MS Dhoni and wife Sakshi Dhoni have named their new-born daughter Ziba — which means beauty in Persian.
Multiple reports, like this one in DNA , say that Dhoni confirmed the news to his teammates during a party arranged by the management to celebrate the birth of Ziba.
Dhoni had confirmed earlier that his wife Sakshi had given birth to a baby girl — and also said that he would not take a break from Australia to see his first child — fully focussing his efforts on defending the World Cup which starts in a week’s time.
Doctors at Fortis Hospital in Gurgaon said that the baby weighs 3.7 kgs and the Indian captain said earlier that ‘mother and child were in good health’.
Dhoni married his childhood friend Sakshi Singh Rawat on July 4, 2010 and his wife is usually seen attending his matches.
India open their World Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at Adelaide on 15 February. This will be the sixth time the two teams will meet at a World Cup — India have won on all the previous occasions.
