India 264/5 after 44 overs (Jadhav 62, Pandya 46) India require another 58 runs from 36 deliveries

India 229/5 after 40 overs (Jadhav 45, Pandya 30) India require another 93 runs from 60 deliveries
Kedar Jadhav eases the pressure a bit with two crucial boundaries. He has the knack of finding the fence when the going is tough. India have hope till he is at the crease. Hardik Pandya gets lucky as a top edge flies over his head for a six. The run rate is below ten and the Eden Gardens is finding its voice
India 209/5 after 38 overs (Jadhav 35, Pandya 20) India require another 113 runs from 72 deliveries
England have made the boundaries hard to come by. Just four runs from this over will add more pressure on the Indians. How long will the Indians be patient and how long can they afford to show patience? Hardik Pandya might be forced to take a risk or two here
India 202/5 after 36 overs (Jadhav 31, Pandya 17) India require another 120 runs from 84 deliveries
Pandya was slightly edgy but got vital runs to ease the pressure a bit, England must frustrate Pandya here and test his patience. India need him to pull off an Afridi-esque innings and blow the English momentum away
India 193/5 after 35 overs (Jadhav 30, Pandya 10)
Good over for England. No boundary. India require another 129 runs from 90 deliveries. The required run rate is still in control, but hosts need to pick up a boundary every over

OUT! MS Dhoni b Ball c Buttler
India 173/5 after 31.4 overs
Dhoni edges it to Buttler, Very similar dismissal to Kohli, lashes out at slightly wide delivery and is caught behind. The extra bounce is creating a few problems for the Indians. Is their weakness in these conditions coming up again? One can’t help but think so
India 166/4 after 30 overs (Dhoni 21, Jadhav 17)
Kedar Jadhav getting a move on straight away. Dhoni joining in the part too. India need a reaction to the wickets of Kohli and Yuvraj. Counter-attack needed and Kedar Jadhav providing that with some positive cricket
India 153/4 after 28 overs (Dhoni 14, Jadhav 6)
Ten runs off the over as India bring up their 150. Cheeky from Kedar Jadhav to get the boundary off the last ball. However he rode his luck a bit at the start of the over when a sweeped him for a boundary. India won’t mind boundaries however they come
India 134/4 after 27 overs (Dhoni 7, Jadhav 0)
England on top at the moment. Moeen Ali feeding on the pressure created by the qucikies from the other end. Dhoni or Jadhav will have to get going very quickly. India have scored just 8 runs off the last four overs

India 133/4 after 25.3 overs
Yuvraj perishes as he tries to find the mid-wikcket boundary. His flick goes straight down Sam Billings’ throat. England’s pressure paying off big time here. India 128/3 after 24 overs (Yuvraj 43, Dhoni 3)
England sticking to their lines and length, not allowing the new man in an easy ride. India could look to capitalise in the Moeen Ali overs to keep the run rate in check
India 126/3 after 23 overs (Yuvraj 42, Dhoni 2)
Yuvraj ends the over with a big six over mid-wicket. It’s a great sight when Yuvraj gets his shot going, especially on the leg side. He has taken over since Kohli has departed
India 114/3 after 21 overs (Yuvraj 35, Dhoni 1)
Yuvraj picking up a boundary every over. India’s hopes rest on him now. England making it as tough as possible for the hots with plenty of discipline in their bowling

India 89/2 after 17 overs (Kohli 48, Yuvraj 21)
Yuvraj with two brilliant pull shots to get going. He has taken his time, but now looks well settled at the crease
India 79/2 after 16 overs (Kohli 48, Yuvraj 13)

India 67/2 after 13 overs (Kohli 41, Yuvraj 8)

India 51/2 after 9 overs (Kohli 30, Yuvraj 3)

India 32/1 after 5 overs (Kohli 15, Rahul 11)
Kohli gives glimpse of his destructive form with a sublime cover drive. Little wrong with the delivery, just class from Kohli
FOUR! Beautiful cover drive from Kohli. Right from the middle of the bat, perfect balance, picked the gap, ominous signs for England
India 27/1 after 4 overs (Kohli 10, Rahul 11)
Willey is having some trouble controlling the line, bowls a few wides.
India 22/1 after 3 overs (Kohli 9, Rahul 10)
Kohli gets going with two consecutive boundaries. He is already looking good.
India 14/1 after 2 overs
Rahane goes for 1. Late movement from Willey and the ball sneaks through the gap between bat and pad. Rahane was brought in place of Dhawan, but could not make the opportunity count. He has been out of the side for a while now and clearly looked rusty. He will be mighty disappointed.
Kohli is the new man in. A lot depends upon the Indian captain if his team is to chase down this stiff total posted by England. Will Kohli play a blinder again?
India 11/0 after 1 over (Rahul 10, Rahane 1)
Rahul hits Woakes for a six and a four and India are off to a brisk start.
KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane out in the middle to open for India.
Ajinkya Rahane and KL Rahul open the innings for India. Chris Woakes with the new ball for the visitors
Do England have enough runs on the board? How big a challenge is it for India now? Watch our expert Ayaz Memon analyse the England innings
Pandya: Pretty important to come back and bowl in the right areas. Bowled pretty at the start, but they were scoring boundaries as well. The new ball will do something. The ball will stop swinging, and then you can play easily. Did my training in NCA and came back pretty strongly. Groundsman said dew does come here, and we have a good contest coming up.
England 321/7 after 50 overs (Stokes 57 off 39)
Woakes squeezes a boundary off Bhuvneshwar. But there is a mix up and Woakes sacrifices his wicket for Stokes with two balls to go. He is run out. England 319/7. Plunkett is the new man in. England get a run off the last ball, as Plunkett is run out off the last ball for 1. England put up at a commendable total.
England 311/6 after 49 overs (Stokes 54, Woakes 29)
Woakes goes on the offensive. Cracks a six and two fours off Bumrah. England goes past 300. This is a very formidable score at Eden Gardens.
England 295/6 after 48 overs
Bhuvneshwar have managed to keep the scoring down in the first three balls, but then bowls wide outside the off stump and Stokes slashes at it and sends the ball to the third man fence. With that he brings up his fifty.
England 284/6 after 47 overs (Stokes 45, Woakes 11)
Woakes edges a Bumrah delivery, but a fine piece of fielding by Bhuvneshwar at the third man fence saves a certain boundary. Stokes then flicks one, but Jadeja fields well. Bumrah beats Stokes on the last ball.
England 277/6 after 46 overs
Fourteen runs off that over – the best of the England innings. Stokes looks to have edged a ball, there is a huge appeal, and the umpires go upstairs. But replays show the ball to have dropped in front of Dhoni.
England 263/6 after 45 overs (Stokes 29, Woakes 6)
Stokes goes after Bumrah and gets a boundary at fine leg. He is shaping up to hit the big shots now. England need some big boundaries with five overs to go.
England 253/6 after 44 overs (Stokes 21, Woakes 5)
Woakes opens his account with a boundary and brings up England’s 250. Pandya completes his quota of 10 overs, going for 49 runs and taking three wickets.
England 246/6 after 43 overs
Moeen Ali pulls Bumrah. The ball hits his bat, then the helmet and pops up for Jadeja to complete an easy catch at backward point. Jadeja had dropped Moeen at a very important stage at Cuttack, and is evidently relieved. Woakes is the new man in.
Moeen Ali c Jadeja b Bumrah 2 (5)
England 239/5 after 42 overs (Stokes 17, Moeen 1)
OUT! Bairstow hits a widish delivery from Pandya straight to Jadeja at backward point. England lose their fifth wicket for 237. A good catch diving forward by him. A good hand by Bairstow nevertheless. Moeen Ali walks in as the next batsman.
England 235/4 after 41 overs (Stokes 15, Bairstow 53)
Ashwin starts the third power play and is immediately lofted into the stands by Stokes. Ten runs of that over.
England 225/4 after 40 overs (Stokes 7, Bairstow 53)
Stokes cracks a boundary square on the off side. The big all-rounder would want to hit some lusty blows in the last few overs.
England 220/4 after 39 overs (Stokes 2, Bairstow 53)
Bairstow goes to his fifty with a four at third man. He came into the side in place of Joe Root and has make it count.
England 212/4 after 38 overs (Bairstow 41)
Pandya is bowling really well now. He really troubled the batsmen in his previous over and beats the batsman on the first ball. Buttler tries to guide the ball towards third man then, but Kohli fields well.
Big appeal for caught behind against Bairstow. Out given by the on-field umpire. Bairstow reviews and gets a decision in his favour.
Brilliant one-handed stop by Jadeja at backward point on the fifth ball and on the last ball of the over, Buttler hits straight into Rahul’s lap at extra cover. England 212/4 after 38 overs. Buttler goes for 11 off 15 balls. Ben Stokes the new man in.
Buttler c Rahul b Pandya 11(15)
England 210/3 after 37 overs (Buttler 10, Bairstow 46)
Buttler goes over the top off Ashwin towards deep mid-wicket. There is a fielder posted there, but the ball drops short. Bairstow then sweeps Ashwin for a boundary.
England 203/3 after 36 overs (Buttler 8, Bairstow 41)
Pandya beats the batsman with short-pitched deliveries. A tidy over – just one runs off that over.
England 202/3 after 35 overs (Buttler 7, Bairstow 41)
200 up for England with a streaky boundary by Buttler off Jadeja. The ball is gripping the surface. Meanwhile, Pandya effects an acrobatic save
England 195/3 after 34 overs (Buttler 1, Bairstow 40)
Pandya into the attack now. India will need to break this partnership, otherwise they could well be looking at the score over 320. Twenty fours and five sixes in the England innings so far.
But India get lucky. Morgan, who was looking so good, hits one straight to Bumrah at 45 degree on the leg side. He goes for a well-made 43 off 44 balls. England lose their third wicket for 194 in the 34th over. A wicket against the run of play off a delivery that didn’t deserve a wicket really. And it’s drinks.
Jos Buttler is the new man in.
Morgan c Bumrah b Pandya 43 (44)
England 193/2 after 33 overs (Morgan 43, Bairstow 40)
Morgan goes big again. Deposits Ashwin into the crowd over wide long on. Both batsmen approaching their fifties. This has been a tremendous counter attack by England after losing Billings and Roy close to each other.
How many of you agree?
England 185/2 after 32 overs (Morgan 36, Bairstow 39)
Jadeja goes for runs in this over. First Bairstow lofts him over extra cover for a four and Morgan then goes straight over the top of the bowler’s head for a six. Thirteen runs off that over.
England 172/2 after 31 overs (Morgan 29, Bairstow 33)
Morgan dances down the track, converts Ashwin’s delivery into a low full toss and gets a boundary. The England captain has got back into form and looks ominous for India.
England 164/2 after 30 overs
50-run partnership between Morgan and Bairstow. England back on track.
England 159/2 after 29 overs (Morgan 21, Bairstow 28)
Big appeal for LBW against Morgan on the first ball of Bumrah’s over. Not out given on the field. India go for a review. Replays suggest the bounce would have saved the batsman. The on field decision stays. Was Kohli a bit rash in going for the review? It looked from Dhoni’s expression that he was surprised at the call for review.
OH NO! On the fourth ball, Bairstow hits the ball straight down the throat of third man, but it’s a no ball. Bairstow gets a life and it is a free hit. What a blunder by Bumrah. Would Bairstow make India pay for this now?
The free hit ball is a juicy full toss and Morgan deposits it into the crowd at fine leg. A terrible over so far for India this one.
England 150/2 after 28 overs (Morgan 14, Bairstow 28)
England bring up their 150 with a fine cut boundary by Bairstow. Desperate dive by the fielder on the third man fence goes to no avail.
Jadeja has had Roy’s number…
England 143/2 after 27 overs (Morgan 12, Bairstow 23)
Bumrah back into the attack, and he is desperately unlucky as Morgan comes down the track and gets and inside edge. The ball misses the stumps but could well have gone on to hit them. He beats the batsman outside the off too.
What do you think?
Interesting…
England 136/2 after 26 overs (Morgan 7, Bairstow 22)
Bairstow comes down the track and lofts Jadeja over long off for a six. He had been in sparkling form in the Test series and England will need him big time now. Morgan plays a cheeky scoop for a couple. Sloppy fielding by Bumrah though. The second run could have been avoided.
England 127/2 after 25 overs (Morgan 5, Bairstow 15)
Bairstow sweeps Ashwin from outside the off stump for a boundary on the second ball. Six runs off that over.
England 121/2 after 24 overs (Morgan 4, Bairstow 10)
A tidy over from Jadeja. The Indian spin twins are putting the checks on the scoring now.
Bravo!
England 120/2 after 23 overs (Morgan 3, Bairstow 10)
Morgan reverse sweeps and misses. A big shout against LBW, but is turned down.
England 116/2 after 22 overs (Morgan 2, Bairstow 7)
The Indian spinners going through their overs very fast now. England on rebuilding mode.
An interesting fact…
England 113/2 after 21 overs (Morgan 1, Bairstow 5)
Ashwin bowls a tidy over. England will now need to get their innings in order after two wickets in quick succession. Two new batsmen in the crease now, and here lies India’s chance.
England 110/2 after 20 overs (Morgan 0, Bairstow 4)
Out! A quicker delivery by Jadeja. Roy goes on the back foot and is clean bowled. He looked good to score big, but fell after getting a start again. Not a good decision to play back to that ball. Roy scored 65 off 55 balls. England lose their second wicket with 110 on the board after 19.4 overs. Centurion from last match, captain Eoin Morgan is the next batsman in.
Roy b Jadeja 65 (55)
England 109/1 after 19 overs (Roy 65, Bairstow 3)
Ashwin into the attack for the first time. Roy gets a healthy edge, but there is no one at slips to catch that. The ball runs away to the fence.
England 102/1 after 18 overs (Roy 60, Bairstow 2)
Out! Billings attempts the reverse sweep, but holes out to Bumrah at short third man, Jadeja gives India the breakthrough. England lose their first wicket on 98. Bairstow the new man in.
Billings c Bumrah b Jadeja 35 off 58
England 97/0 after 17 overs
Roys cuts a half-tracker to the boundary. England openers reach a hundred-run partnership. Drinks taken after that over.
England 90/0 after 16 overs
Jadeja into the attack now. Roy cracks one straight over the bowlers head for a six and gets to his fifty.
England 80/0 after 15 overs
Billings gets a boundary on the second ball, but survives a strong LBW appeal. Kohli asks Dhoni whether to review, but he says no.
England 73/0 after 14 over (Roy 37, Billings 24)
Bumrah into the attack. A brilliant diving save by Pandya at mid-on saves a certain boundary. The next ball climbs up and beats the hook attempted by Billings . Dhoni makes a good stop. Bye given. Roy then gets an inside edge, but he ball misses the stumps by inches. Lucky for the batsman.
England 62/0 after 13 over (Roy 37, Billings 24)
Spin introduced for the first time by Kohli, and it’s Yuvraj into the attack now. He may not get a lot of turn, but can keep the scores down with accurate wicket-to-wicket bowling. Yuvraj gets hit to point on the last ball, but a lightning quick Jadeja saves the boundary.
England 57/0 after 12 over (Roy 35, Billings 21)
The England openers quietly play that over from Bumrah away. Bumrah has bowled well so far, and the England batsmen should be wary against him.
England 53/0 after 11 over (Roy 33, Billings 19)
Pandya changes ends and replaces Bhuvneshwar now. The first ball keeps a bit low and beats Roy, who comes back with a fine off-driven boundary on the third ball of the over. Roy dismisses Pandya to the mid-wicket fence on the last ball. Fifty run partnership up between Roy and Billings.
England 43/0 after 10 over (Roy 28, Billings 14)
Bumrah comes for his second over and beats Billings. The batsman gets a boundary, but is beaten with a beauty on the last ball again. This is now the best opening stand of the series from either side.
England 39/0 after 9 over (Roy 28, Billings 10)
The first four balls of the next over are dot balls. Eleven balls without a run now. And Roy charges down the track and blasts Bhuvneshwar over extra cover. He doesn’t time it as well as he would have liked, but the ball trickles to the fence. That will break thye shackles. He turns the ball through mid-wicket next, but a good fielding at the fence denies him a boundary.
England 33/0 after 8 over (Roy 22, Billings 10)
Jasprit Bumrah brought into the attack in place of Pandya and he beats Billings comprehensively outside the off stump in the first three balls. On the fourth ball, he edges, but the ball falls short of the slip fielder. Billings is beatan again on the last ball. Bumrah bowls a maiden, but is desperately unlucky.
England 33/0 after 7 over (Roy 22, Billings 10)
Bhuvneshwar bowls a tight over. Only one run coming off it. The Indians have bowled with heart, but have been a bit unlucky so far.
England 32/0 after 6 over (Roy 22, Billings 9)
Pandya beats both Billings and Roy outside off-stump, but then Roy comes up with a fine off-driven boundary. The England batsmen have been beaten a number of times, but what they have done well in the initial phase is that they have not missed to pick up boindaries when they have had a chance.
England 27/0 after 5 overs (Roy 18, Billings 8)
Roy cuts Bhuvneshwar over point for a boundary and clips one off his legs, which races to the fence on a lightning quick Eden outfield.
England 19/0 after 4 overs (Roy 10, Billings 8)
Roy hits Pandya for two boundaries in the over, and Billings hits one of his own. Thirteen runs off that over. England are going on the attack.
England 6/0 after 3 overs (Roy 5, Billings 0)
Roy shuffles outside off-stump and clips Bhuvi off his pads for England’s first boundary towards square leg. Nasser Hussein on commentary finds similarities with Kevin Peitersen. Roy gets beaten outside off.
England 1/0 after 2 overs (Roy 0, Billings 0)
Pandya shares the new ball with Bhuvneshwar. Beats Billing all ends up with a delightful away-swinger on the fourth ball and Kohli posts three slips again. Billings tries to counter by walking a few steps down the track on the next ball, but it is not easy to get Pandya away.
England 1/0 after 1 overs (Roy 0, Billings 0)
Bhuvneshwar starts with two out-swingers, followed by a ball coming in. He gets good carry on the fourth delivery, and beats Roy outside off. Kohli goes on the attack and posts three slips. A last delivery is a gem, squaring Roy up and beating the outside edge off his bat. The Eden pitch certainly has something for the bowlers early on.
And we are away as Roy leaves the first delivery outside off.
Jason Roy and Sam Billings are out to open the batting for England and Bhuvneshwar Kumar has the new ball for India.
The two teams are walking out to the middle at the iconic Eden Gardens and we are ready for the national anthems.
A good toss to win for India, considering the dew factor at the Eden Gardens at this time of the year.

Virat Kohli says dew is massive factor in the last 15 overs or so.
Eoin Morgan says there is more grass than ever on a Kolkata wicket. Says England’s batters have done well, but bowlers haven’t hit the straps.
Pitch report: One of the best pitches at the Eden Gardens. There is a fair sprinkling of grass. Seam bowlers might get the ball to move once the dew sets in. The team that wins the toss usually goes for chase, though they might want to bat first this time.
Can the Indians extend England’s misery, and complete a 3-0 series sweep? Or will England rally around, and salvage some pride in the dead rubber? Stay tuned to find out.
