The 17-time Grand Slam champion is through to his 6th Australian Open final with a 7-5, 6-3, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3 win over Stan Wawerinka.

After getting to advantage, Federer stops play mid-way to challenge a Wawrinka backhand return on the baseline. Fortunately for him, Stan’s shot was long and Federer holds.

Federer managed to get to 40-30 on Wawrinka’s serve but then got passed at the net by his opponent after a lovely rally. The unforced errors are piling up for the 17th seed.

After a gap of 14 years, 36-year-old Venus Williams is back in the Australian Open final with a 6-7(3), 6-2, 6-3 win over Coco Vandeweghe.

On the second match point, Venus is unable to get her backhand over the net after a long rally and it’s deuce.

Venus takes the advantage with a forehand winner and brings up another match point. Vandeweghe saves it again with a deep return that Venus couldn’t control. 

On the second deuce, Vandeweghe slides another ace out wide. Venus challenges it and it turns out to be OUT. Second serve and Vandeweghe sends her return long!
