What a tournament this has turned out to be for world No 1 Viktor Axelsen, who didn’t drop a single game on his way to his second men’s singles title at badminton’s oldest running competition!
Lakshya Sen though can take heart from continuing his stupendous form in the international circuit, winning bronze in the world championships, followed by a victory at the India Open and a runner-up finish at the German Open!

Results so far today:
Women’s Singles final: Akane Yamaguchi (Japan) defeated An Se-young (South Korea) 21-15, 21-15.
Men’s Doubles final: Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana (Indonesia) defeated Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan (Indonesia) 21-19, 21-13.
Women’s Doubles final: Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida (Japan) defeated Zhang Shu Xian and Zheng Yu (China) 21-13, 21-9.
Lakshya, who’s been having a stellar season so far, became only the fourth Indian in the final of the men’s singles event at the All England Open Badminton Championships after a gruelling semi-final victory over Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in a contest that lasted an hour and 16 minutes.
“Towards the end, I was just trying to not think about the things that was going around, it was an All England semifinal and the thoughts were coming in but I was trying to keep myself focussed,” Sen said after his victory.
