Kidambi Srikanth trounces Shi Yuqi; joins Sai Praneeth in semis: 21-14, 21-16
It’s time we should consider this win as the comeback of former World. no 3 Kidambi Srikanth! What a comprehensive win as he outplayed the World no. 8 Shi Yuqi in straight games to enter the semis of the Singapore Open.
14-14! The second game is turning out to be an interesting one. Both Kidambi and Yuqi are in no mood to defend.
Tantalizing comeback by Kidambi in the second game, leads 11-10 at the break. #SingaporeSS

10-10! Brilliant comeback there by Kidambi. Shi Yuqi lost his focus after taking a four-point lead in the second game.
9-5! World no. 8 Shi Yuqi is trying to focus on backhand shots which will eventually weaken Kidambi’s offensive play. Kidambi may not be at his best when defending cross court or body smashes since he is on his way back to full fitness
Now this is awesome!
Huge crowd support for @srikidambi #SingaporeSS @BAI_Media pic.twitter.com/KKuRCFroIo

Kidambi Srikanth claims first game swiftly: 21-14
Finally, Kidambi has shown consistency after a huge break and takes the first game pretty quickly against the Chinese Shi Yuqi. Notably, his footwork has allowed him to move and lift the drops with ease. The second game gets underway!
Great going @srikidambi! One game away from a semis berth at #SingaporeSS.

13-8! Shi Yuqi is feeling the heat over here as Kidambi’s quick net plays are difficult to lift.
8-7! Kidambi has taken a slender lead but will have to be consistent throughout the match
Kidambi leads 5-4 and is looking quite comfortable with his backhand shots.
Kidambi Srikanth vs Shi Yuqi
Fifth seed Shi Yuqi of China faces Kidambi for the first time in a competitive match and that’s what makes this tie even more interesting. Kidambi is coming back from a long break and will be eager to make his mark whereas the 21-year-old eyes a semis spot.
What a class player Carolina Marin is. A convincing victory for the Spaniard over PV Sindhu to sail into the SEMIS of #SingaporeSS
— Premier Badminton League (@PBLIndiaLive) April 14, 2017
PV Sindhu bows out of #SingaporeSS after a quarterfinal loss to Carolina Marin 11-21, 15-21. Top-notch from the Olympic champion.

Carolina Marin beats PV Sindhu; enters semis: 21-11, 21-15
Olympic champion Marin got the better of fifth seed Sindhu in every department, especially in terms of court coverage and forehand drives. Marin banked on playing shots from near the net so that she could easily defend Sindhu’s attacking drives/shots. However, Sindhu did try to make a comeback but Marin’s pace proved too much in the end. Tough luck, Sindhu!
19-12 and fourth seed Marin is just two points away from winning this tie!
17-11! It’s not over yet. Sindhu wins two consecutive points to halt Marin’s lead. Will she turn the game from hereon?
13-6! Sindhu is trying everything she can to sneak into the second game but she cannot match up with Marin’s pace
The heat is on in the court and both players looked pumped up! Marin leads 11-5 at the break of the 2nd game against Sindhu. #SingaporeSS

.@caro_marin2 ahead at the break of the second game 11-5; Now or never for Sindhu

10-3! Looks like Marin isn’t going to stop delivering unplayable cross court shots. Marin was beaten just a few weeks back because of Sindhu’s decisive net plays but unfortunately, Sindhu hasn’t tested Marin. Now or never for the Indian Open winner.
Carolina Marin dominates first game: 21-11
The Spanish ace has been accurate so far with her attacking shots that has more or less restricted Sindhu from moving near the forecourt. The second game will be crucial for the Indian as she should attack either of the tramlines to slow down Marin’s movement.
19-11! Sindhu has been stretched in the first game as the Spaniard successfully pushes Sindhu to the basepoint and capitalises later.
Marin has taken the first game away from Sindhu as she leads 16-5, leaving no room for Sindhu to move freely.
Carolina Marin looking in superb touch at the moment. Leads 11-4 against Sindhu at the break of the first game. #SingaporeSS

3-7! Sindhu gets one back with a fine smash. Need more of this from her to make the difference today
7-2! Marin wins five consecutive points to add a bit of a pressure in the first game. Sindhu has to be quick near the forecourt
2-2! Great move by Sindhu as she smartly executes a cross court drop.
Carolina Marin takes the serve and claims the first point of this tie
THE SHOWDOWN AWAITS!
.@caro_marin2 and @Pvsindhu1 will battle it out in #SingaporeSS quarters. Another epic encounter awaits! pic.twitter.com/bDbHMal5wk

PV Sindhu vs Carolina Marin
The epic Sindhu vs Marin clash is just moments away. They have played twice in the last four months where Sindhu came out victorious – Dubai Superseries Finals and in the final of the India Open. Both look in good touch but the Indian shuttler has been stretched in both of her matches and she should be aware of Marin’s ability to drain her opponent should the match go into the deciding game.

— BAI Media (@BAI_Media) April 14, 2017

— BAI Media (@BAI_Media) April 14, 2017
B Sumeeth Reddy/ Ashwini Ponnappa loses first game: 21-11
The Indian duo will have to be dominant in the second game and maintain a healthy lead to unsettle Lu Kai, Huang Yaqiong and force the match into the decider
Take a bow, @saiprneeth92! An astonishing victory for Sai who defeats Tanongsak 15-21, 21-14, 21-19 to seal a SEMIS berth at #SingaporeSS pic.twitter.com/eFRUSfPonv
